Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho is now closing in on a return to Borussia Dortmund on loan, according to a report.

Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho is reportedly closing in on a return to Borussia Dortmund on loan.

The 23-year-old has not played for his English club since the end of August due to a falling-out with Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag, which stemmed from the attacker being left out against Arsenal at the start of September.

Ten Hag said that the England international was not present at the Emirates Stadium due to poor performances in training, but Sancho insisted that was not the case in a post on social media, claiming that he had been made "a scapegoat" by his manager.

Sancho has not been involved in the first-team environment at the club for some time, and he is now seemingly preparing to return to Dortmund on loan for the second half of the campaign.

Towards the end of last week, it was reported that the deal had been delayed due to the two clubs not being able to agree on the finer details of the loan arrangement.

However, Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has since said that talks are ongoing with Man United, who signed Sancho from the Bundesliga giants in the summer of 2021.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs are in direct contact, with the deal now close to being completed.

Romano claims that the final details are being discussed, and it will be a strict loan move, with a purchase option not being included in the agreement.

Sancho is thought to be unwilling to completely give up on his Man United career at this stage, with the forward's situation set to be assessed over the summer.

The attacker's future at Old Trafford could depend on Ten Hag, as the Dutchman's position as head coach of the 20-time English champions continues to be called into question.

Ten Hag is expected to be given at least the next couple of months to oversee an improvement, but his position at the helm would be in severe doubt if the team continues to struggle for consistency.

According to the Daily Mail, Dortmund are not prepared to pay Sancho's £290,000-a-week salary, with the German team wanting £100,000 a week to be contributed by Man United.

Sancho has only scored 12 goals and registered six assists in 82 appearances for Man United since making the move to the English giants from Dortmund.

The Englishman starred during his time at BVB, though, scoring 50 goals and registering 64 assists in 137 outings, and he will now be bidding to reignite his career back in familiar surroundings.
