Manchester United to trigger Inaki Williams's £81m release clause?

Manchester United reportedly line up an £81m bid for Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams.

Manchester United are reportedly considering making an £81m move for Athletic Bilbao attacker Inaki Williams before the transfer window closes for business on Thursday.

The Red Devils are said to be on the verge of selling Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan after allegedly agreeing a £70m deal for the transfer of the Belgium international.

Lukaku's exit would leave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side short of options in the centre-forward position, despite suggestions that Anthony Martial is set to be involved through the middle this season.

According to El Chiringuito TV, Williams has been identified as a target ahead of Thursday's deadline, with the Red Devils prepared to activate the 25-year-old's £81m release clause.

The one-time Spain international has scored 49 times in 204 appearances for Bilbao in all competitions, including 15 in 41 games for the Basque club during the 2018-19 campaign.

United have already spent big this summer to sign both Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, while Daniel James has also made the switch from Swansea City in a £15m deal.
