Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly contemplating whether to make a bid for Monaco forward Wissam Ben Yedder.

Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly identified Monaco forward Wissam Ben Yedder as a potential summer signing.

While the two Premier League clubs are yet to make a first-team addition this summer, both are expected to bring in several fresh faces before the end of the current window.

After ending the season on a low note, the two teams are naturally considering whether to strengthen their options down the middle of their attack.

According to Media Foot Marseille, United and Wolves are both taking an interest in signing Ben Yedder over the coming weeks.

The 31-year-old has just enjoyed a hugely successful campaign at Stade Louis II, contributing 25 goals and five assists in 37 Ligue 1 appearances.

That form was enough to help Monaco into third place in the standings, a high-enough position to earn a spot in the Champions League qualifiers.

With two years remaining on the contract of a player who will turn 32 years of age in August, Monaco may see little value in parting ways with their star man for a lower fee than they would perhaps anticipate for someone of his strike-rate.

Nevertheless, the report claims that United are contemplating whether to try to add the France international to their ranks ahead of 2022-23.

As it stands, it is unclear whether United are in the market for competition for Cristiano Ronaldo or a replacement as the Portuguese superstar continues to be linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

However, with Edinson Cavani having already departed the club and Anthony Martial also potentially leaving United, the Red Devils may eventually bring in two fresh faces for their central-forward position.

The report adds that Wolves are watching Ben Yedder "very closely" ahead of possibly putting forward a proposal for the player.

Bruno Lage currently has Raul Jimenez and Fabio Silva at his disposal, but it remains unclear whether both of those players will start the season at Molineux.

An asking price for Ben Yedder - who cost €40m when Monaco activated his release clause at Sevilla in 2019 - has not been suggested.

While Monaco have already signed Takumi Minamino from Liverpool this summer, the Japanese is not regarded as a like-for-like alternative.
