Manchester City beat a number of clubs to the signature of Valencia attacker Ferran Torres, according to a report.

Manchester City have reportedly beaten a number of clubs to the signature of Valencia attacker Ferran Torres.

The 20-year-old enjoyed an impressive 2019-20 campaign for his Spanish club, scoring six times and providing eight assists in 44 appearances in all competitions.

The Spaniard's contract at the Mestalla is due to expire next summer, and a host of teams, including Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, have been linked with a move.

However, a recent report claimed that Man City had moved to the head of the queue, already agreeing personal terms with the versatile attacker ahead of a potential summer switch.

According to Bild, Pep Guardiola's side have won the race for Torres, although the Premier League giants still must come to an agreement with Valencia over a transfer fee.

City have reportedly signalled that they are not prepared to pay more than €35m (£32m) for the youngster.
