Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly furious with Ralf Rangnick's decision not to selected him in Manchester United's starting lineup for the Manchester derby.

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been left enraged by Ralf Rangnick's decision not to selected him in Manchester United's starting lineup for the Manchester derby, and his future at Old Trafford is in 'serious doubt'.

The 37-year-old was not involved in United's 4-1 defeat away at Manchester City on Sunday, after Rangnick claimed he was suffering with the same hip injury that forced him to miss two games against Aston Villa in January.

According to The Sun, Ronaldo was told by Rangnick that he would not start against City two days before their trip to the Etihad Stadium, with the German boss intending to use him as an impact substitute if required.

Ronaldo was furious with the decision, even though he was later ruled out with injury, and he decided to fly to his native Portugal for warm-weather training.

The report adds that United's first-team squad were shocked to hear that Ronaldo would not be joining them at The Lowry Hotel on Saturday evening and they believe his presence in the dressing room on matchday could have been beneficial.

Although first-team players were given a day off from training on Monday, Ronaldo's representatives and United's staff were unaware of the forward's whereabouts; however, he has since been pictured arriving back at Carrington for training on Tuesday morning.

It remains to be seen whether Ronaldo, who has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, will be fit to feature in United's important Premier League clash at home against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
