Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez "pleased" with a point

Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez praises his players for coming from behind to draw with Manchester City in Tuesday night's Premier League clash at St James' Park.

Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has said that he 'has to be pleased' with a point against Manchester City.

Victory for Newcastle in Tuesday night's Premier League match at St James' Park would have moved the Magpies out of the relegation zone, but the points were shared on Tyneside.

Benitez has paid tribute to the "reaction of the team" and insisted that his side now "has more belief" as they attempt to escape from the bottom three in their final four matches.

"I have to be pleased because against a team like Man City, to do what we have done from 1-0 down, the reaction of the team, you have to be pleased," Benitez told BBC Sport. "The team has more belief now, the fans are behind the players and they will fight to the end. Today was an example of that."

Newcastle, who remain 19th, two points from safety, will travel to Liverpool in the league on Saturday afternoon.
