Shola Ameobi unsure of Newcastle United future

Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi reveals that he is unsure of his future at the club as his contract expires at the end of the season.

Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi has admitted that he is unsure whether he will be at the club next season.

The 32-year-old helped end the Magpies' run of six straight defeats as he found the net in their 3-0 win over Cardiff City at St James' Park on Saturday.

However, the goal could be Ameobi's last for the club as his contract will expire at the end of the season.

Ameobi told the club's official website: "I'm just delighted that I could help the team win, first and foremost, and to score a goal at the Gallowgate is the icing on the cake.

"I couldn't have scripted it better. When I was thinking about the game this morning, that was the perfect script in my mind.

"I never say never in this game because I don't know what is going to happen next season, but it has been a fantastic 14 years for me here and I've loved every minute."

The striker has scored three goals in 28 appearances for the Magpies this season.
