Neil Adams: 'Norwich City promotion the only option'

Norwich City manager Neil Adams insists that promotion is the only option this season even with their recent slump in form.

Norwich City manager Neil Adams has admitted that the club's current slump has left him enduring his "toughest time" as a manager.

The Canaries have won just one of their last 10 Championship games to drop to 11th in the table after being one of the season's early pacesetters.

Saturday's defeat at home to Reading was the seventh time in the last eight games at Carrow Road that they have failed to win.

Despite the downturn in form, Adams is confident that Norwich can achieve promotion back to the Premier League, something he described as the club's only option.

"This is definitely my toughest time as a manager, without a shadow of a doubt, because we need to do better," he told the Eastern Daily Press.

"It's a tough time for us all, not just me, players, staff and supporters alike. We all want the best for this club. That goes without saying.

"Promotion will always be the target. We are still capable of it. We are not showing that at all right now but promotion is the remit. When you are relegated the immediate priority is to bounce back. There is no other option so we are all aware that is our target."

Next up is a trip to Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
