Paul Lambert backs Norwich City to secure promotion

Former Norwich City boss Paul Lambert backs the club to beat Ipswich Town on the way to clinching a return to the Premier League.

Former Norwich City manager Paul Lambert has claimed that he is confident the club will return to the Premier League by emerging victorious from the playoffs.

The Canaries host Ipswich Town in the second leg of their semi-final on Saturday with the tie currently level at 1-1, and Lambert believes that the current squad are strong enough to pass the test.

"I think they'll win promotion. Norwich is a great club with a great fan base and they are certainly equipped to get there," he told Sky Sports News.

"Alex Neil has done fantastically well. I don't really know him but he has handled himself really well and kept the players focused.

"I know how important it is for Norwich fans and Alex will know that too. It would be great to see them go up for the people there and some players who have been there for a while."

Neil insisted earlier this week that his side would be ready for the Premier League if they succeed in the playoffs.
