The first half sees Portugal and Holland level at 1-1, with goals from Rafael van der Vaart and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The half-time whistle blows in Kharkiv with the score between Portugal and Netherlands at 1-1.

Netherlands had the first attempt on goal on four minutes through Wesley Sneijder, but the forward's strike went wide of the post.

Cristiano Ronaldo had Portugal's first effort on seven minutes, but it was blocked by the Netherlands' defence.

Netherlands took the lead on 10 minutes through a fine finish from Rafael van der Vaart.

A mistake from the Netherlands' backline on 18 minutes allowed Helder Postiga in on goal, but the centre forward could not find the finish to bring the scores level.

Ronaldo came close on 23 minutes with a header, though it was kept out by Maarten Stekelenburg.

Portugal finally got the equaliser on 28 minutes when Joao Pereira put Ronaldo through, who finished well to make it 1-1.

Ronaldo began to pose more of a threat to the Netherlands defence and came close on a number of occasions, but couldn't add to his tally.

The Real Madrid man attacked down the right hand side on 40 minutes and got a shot away, but couldn't hit the target.

The half-time whistle went with both sides level at 1-1.
