The league champions struck twice in the first half through Steven Smith and Dean Shiels, with both goals coming in quick successions midway through the period.

Lee McCulloch struck just after the hour from the penalty spot, before Nicky Law made it four with the Gers' 100th league goal in the 78th minute.

Airdrieonians defeated East Fife 2-1 at the Excelsior Stadium, with all goals coming in the second half.

Caolan McAleer struck for the home side in the 52nd minute, before Steven Campbell headed in the equaliser from a difficult angle midway through the second half.

James Lister, however, struck with just 12 minutes to go to gift Airdrieonians all three points.

Ayr United and Dunfermline Athletic played out a 1-1 draw at Somerset Park, Ryan Thomson heading in from very close range in the 50th minute for the visitors.

Alan Forrest smashed the ball in from six yards for the Honest Men just five minutes later to ensure that both sides would share the points.

Forfar Athletic went down 2-0 at home against Arbroath, with Paul Sheerin and Kenny Deuchar scoring within two minutes of each other midway through the first half to secure the three points for the Red Lichties.

Elsewhere, Stranraer lost 2-1 on their own patch against Brechin City.

Frank McKeown conceded a penalty in the first four minutes, which was duly converted by Alan Trouten for the away side's first goal.

Andrew Stirling equalised with a long-range effort midway through the first half, before Robert Thomson struck in the 67th minute to secure the win for the Hedgemen.
