Alberto Undiano Mallenco to take charge of El Clasico

Alberto Undiano Mallenco will referee El Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona at the Bernabeu on March 23.

Experienced official Alberto Undiano Mallenco will referee El Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona at the Bernabeu on March 23.

The 40-year-old took charge of October's reverse clash at the Camp Nou, when Barcelona were 2-1 winners in what was an ill-tempered affair.

It is the first time that an official has been selected for both matches between the two sides in a single season.

However, Mallenco is experienced in Clasicos, having refereed nine meetings between the two Spanish giants in total.

As it stands, Los Blancos sit top of La Liga, four points ahead of third-placed Barcelona with 11 games remaining.
