Hubert Fournier signs new two-year Reims deal

Hubert Fournier pens a two-year contract extension with Ligue 1 side Reims.

Reims have announced that manager Hubert Fournier has signed a two-year contract extension.

The 46-year-old joined the club from FC Gueugnon as assistant coach in 2009 before taking full control a year later.

He brought top-flight football back to Stade Auguste Delaune for the firs time in 33 years with promotion in 2012 and led them to a 14th-place finish in Ligue 1 last season.

"I am very pleased to continue the adventure because I believe the club can still make considerable progress," Ligue1.com quotes Fournier as saying.

"The arrival of the new training centre [next July] is one of the things that helped make up my mind. I see a team that is making progress and a club that is growing.

"This announcement will allow us to carry on working in peace in the coming months, because otherwise there could have been uncertainty in the dressing room. In terms of objectives, we want to make the club last at the highest level."

Reims are currently ninth in Ligue 1.
