London-born Norwich keeper Mark Bunn is reportedly asked to consider playing for the Republic of Ireland as they seek a replacement for Shay Given.

Norwich City goalkeeper Mark Bunn has reportedly been approached by the Republic of Ireland with a view to an international call-up.

London-born Bunn, who joined the Canaries from Blackburn Rovers this summer, qualifies to play for the Republic through his father and grandfather.

Long-serving keeper Shay Given retired from Republic duty after Euro 2012, leaving manager Giovanni Trapattoni to search for a new number one.

The Italian started Keiren Westwood in Ireland's victories over Kazakhstan and Oman this week, but he would like to bring Bunn into his setup to provide competition for the Sunderland stopper, according to Sky Sports News.

Bunn has also played for Northampton Town and Sheffield United.
