Steve Evans lauds "awesome" Matt Derbyshire

Rotherham boss Steve Evans hails the "awesome" Matt Derbyshire for inspiring the Millers to a crucial 4-2 win over Bolton Wanderers.

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans has lauded the "awesome" Matt Derbyshire for his performance in Tuesday's 4-2 win over Bolton Wanderers.

Derbyshire scored one and set up another as the Millers ran riot at the New York Stadium and boasted a four-goal lead inside 56 minutes.

"It's a stunning goal from Matt and I thought he was absolutely awesome for an hour before he tired a bit," he told Sky Sports News.

"Derbyshire was the only player who knew last night he was playing because I told him last night.

"He was absolutely exceptional in training yesterday and he is a confidence boy and he needs people to love him."

Evans's side moved five points clear of the Championship relegation zone with the win.
