Sheffield United have reportedly made an official approach for Leicester City midfielder Dean Hammond.
The 32-year-old signed a new one-year contract with the Premier League side in July, but according to the Sheffield Star, the Blades are looking to bring in Hammond on an emergency loan.
Sheffield manager Nigel Adkins admitted to reporters after Tuesday's 3-2 defeat to Colchester United that he planned to add more competition to the squad.
Hammond made 12 appearances for the Foxes last season but has yet to play in the Premier League under new manager Claudio Ranieri.
