Graham Turner puzzled by Notts County form

Shrewsbury Town boss Graham Turner admits his surprise that Notts County have struggled in League One this season.

Shrewsbury Town manager Graham Turner has admitted that he has been surprised to see Notts County struggle in League One this season, ahead of this weekend's match between the teams.

The Magpies, who currently prop up the division, travel to Greenhous Meadow on Saturday to face Turner's side.

"You look at clubs at the start of the season and we all start with a lot of optimism, having worked hard in pre-season and put together a squad of players that you think are good enough and it is surprising sometimes how things turn out," Turner told the Shropshire Star.

"Notts County, with what they have in their squad, should and could be a reasonable side in League One."

Shaun Derry was appointed as player-manager of Notts a fortnight ago, replacing the sacked Chris Kiwomya.
