Eljero Elia hopes to stay at Southampton beyond loan move

Eljero Elia admits that he wants to sign a permanent deal at Southampton when his short-term loan from Werder Bremen expires in the summer.

Eljero Elia has revealed that he hopes to stay at Southampton when his loan move from Werder Bremen comes to an end.

The 28-year-old moved to St Mary's in January on a short-term agreement, but admits that he remains in the dark about his future at the Premier League club.

When asked by the Daily Echo about his future, Elia said: "I don't know. [The club] say nothing about it. I speak with the coach about it, who was positive. I want to stay 100%, so it is to the club what they decide."

The Saints are currently seventh in the table, one point behind Tottenham Hotspur with two games left to play in the season.
