Former Tottenham Hotspur captain Gary Mabbutt believes that Harry Redknapp's team "don't really care" about who the manager is, despite constant reports linking their coach with the England managerial job.
The North London outfit have dropped from their high-flying status and possible Premier League title challenge to being in danger of finishing the season out of the top four.
While some have suggested that the speculation surrounding Redknapp has caused the club's demise, Mabbutt believes that the rumours should not be used as an excuse.
"Everyone's said that it all seemed to change after Capello resigned and Harry was named as the favourite to take over the England job," Mabbutt told talkSPORT.
"Harry Redknapp has [at times] been missing from the club. He was away for three weeks folllowing a heart operation and three weeks with his court case. But the coaching staff he has are right behind him, things weren't affected at the club.
"The players don't really care who the manager is. It's not had an influence. Redknapp is as focused as he was at the start of the season on getting Tottenham back into the top four."
Spurs currently sit three points below fourth-placed Newcastle United.
