Exeter City's director of football Steve Perryman is recovering in hospital after undergoing heart surgery.
The former Tottenham Hotspur player was taken ill during Exeter's 2-2 draw against Sheffield United yesterday afternoon.
"Last night, Steve Perryman was transferred from the RD&E Hospital to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth where he underwent heart surgery," read a statement on the club's official website. "This morning the surgery was reported as successful.
"Needing complete rest, Steve will not be contactable until further notice.
"On Steve and his wife Kim's behalf, we would like to say thank you for all the kind messages of goodwill."
Perryman is Tottenham's record appearance holder.
