Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno Espirito Santo says that Steven Bergwijn is out for the foreseeable future with an ankle injury.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that winger Steven Bergwijn is ruled out for the foreseeable future with an ankle injury.

Bergwijn picked up his injury in the first half an hour of Spurs' 2-2 draw away against Rennes in the Europa Conference League last week, and has since missed the club's last two matches.

Speaking to the press ahead of Sunday's North London derby against Arsenal, Nuno stated that he is unsure as to when the Dutchman can return to the training field.

The Portuguese boss said: "I think I already explained, the injury he has is very painful. So first of all he has to settle down the pain. He's not totally stopped, he's doing some fitness, upper body. But we have to be careful with this injury. For now he's not available."

Nuno has also confirmed that Ryan Sessegnon remains out with a knock, however Lucas Moura trained with the rest of the group this morning and could be in contention to feature this weekend.

Sessegnon has not played for Spurs since they won 3-0 at home against Pacos de Ferreira last month, while Moura has missed the last two games with an ankle problem.
