Tottenham Hotspur wing-back Djed Spence is set to leave the club on loan this month amid interest from a number of Premier League clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly prepared to allow defender Djed Spence to leave on loan in January.

Spence joined Spurs in the summer from Middlesbrough, after impressing during a loan spell with Nottingham Forest last season.

The Englishman made 50 competitive appearances for Forest in the 2021-22 campaign, scoring three goals and providing five assists, helping the club secure promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs.

However, since moving to North London, Spence has found it difficult to break into the Tottenham side, with Antonio Conte preferring to use Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal in the right wing-back role.

Spence has only made six appearances across all competitions, and he is still waiting to be given his first start for the club.

With Spurs heavily linked with a move for Sporting Lisbon full-back Pedro Porro during the current transfer window, Spence could slip further down the pecking order.

According to football.london, Tottenham are willing to let Spence leave on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 22-year-old is receiving interest from a number of Premier League clubs, including Leicester City and Brentford.

Timothy Castagne is Leicester's only fit recognised right-back, with James Justin and Ricardo Pereira currently sidelined with injuries.

While Pereira has returned to training and could be available within a few weeks, Brendan Rodgers may still be keen to strengthen the right side of his defence.

Meanwhile, Thomas Frank has utilised the likes of Mads Roerslev and Aaron Hickey in right wing-back or full-back roles this season.

However, Hickey recently returned from injury to feature in the matchday squad as an unused substitute against Leeds United on Sunday, and it remains to be seen whether Frank believes that there is space in his side for Spence.

The England Under-21 international has also been linked with Southampton, Crystal Palace and Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.

While Spurs are prepared to allow Spence to leave on a loan deal, they are not entertaining any offers of a permanent transfer or an option to buy.

Having only joined the club six months ago, Spence has a lengthy contract with Tottenham, which runs until June 2027.
