RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano emerges as a transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in the mix for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.

The 21-year-old, who is thought to be interesting the likes of Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, has made 24 appearances for his Bundesliga club during the 2019-20 campaign.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho was pictured in the stadium for Leipzig's clash with Bayern Munich last weekend, and it had been thought that the Portuguese was watching the German team ahead of their upcoming battle in the last-16 stage of the Champions League.

However, according to The Mirror, Mourinho was also scouting Upamecano, who is believed to have a £50m release clause in his current contract.

Toby Alderweireld has signed a new contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium despite speculation that he could leave, but Jan Vertonghen will see his deal expire this summer and is expected to depart in search of pastures new.

Spurs, who reached last season's European Cup final, will face Leipzig in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie on February 19.
