Tottenham Hotspur sign 17-year-old Will Lankshear from Sheffield United

Tottenham Hotspur announce the signing of 17-year-old Will Lankshear from Sheffield United on a three-year deal.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of 17-year-old striker Will Lankshear from Sheffield United.

The 2005-born Englishman spent one-and-a-half years on the books at Bramall Lane and wore the captain's armband as the Under-18s side won the Professional Development League title in the 2021-22 season.

Lankshear - who was previously a member of Arsenal's youth academy - also made appearances in the Blades' FA Youth Cup campaigns and was believed to have been on the radar of Brentford.

However, Tottenham have now won the race to sign the highly-rated teenager, who has agreed a three-year deal with Antonio Conte's side until the end of the 2024-25 season.

Lankshear will continue to ply his trade at youth level for Tottenham and joins the likes of Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett as the Lilywhites' next generation of strikers after sealing a move thought to be worth up to £2m.

It is understood that Sheffield United will receive an upfront fee of £1m for the sale of Lankshear, which could be doubled if performance-related add-ons are hit.

Lankshear follows the likes of Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Destiny Udogie, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence to Hotspur Way this summer, and Spurs also confirmed the permanent capture of Cristian Romero from Atalanta BC on Tuesday.
