Tottenham's Danny Rose hopes Sunderland can secure Premier League survival

Tottenham Hotspur Danny Rose is hopeful that his former club Sunderland can secure Premier League survival.

Tottenham Hotspur's Danny Rose is keeping his fingers crossed that Sunderland can survive relegation from the Premier League.

The 23-year-old spent a season-long loan at the Stadium of Light under then-manager Martin O'Neill in last year's campaign.

This time, Rose will be on the other side of the pitch when Spurs host Sunderland at White Hart Lane on Monday night.

"They are having a bad time and are without a win from their last six games, but I really hope after we play them that they can win enough games to stay up," Rose told Tottenham's official website.

"I loved my time up there, Martin O'Neill was a great manager for me and he gave me a lot of confidence to go and express myself on the pitch. He was willing to give me games and I have a lot to thank him, the club and the Sunderland fans for."

Sunderland, who have Gus Poyet in charge, are currently second from bottom in the table, four points adrift of safety.
