Garry Monk grateful for Arsene Wenger praise

Garry Monk expresses his joy at recent comments made by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who described the rookie Swansea boss as the best in the Premier League this term.

Swansea City boss Garry Monk has thanked Arsene Wenger for paying him a "massive compliment" ahead of his side's trip to Arsenal.

The Frenchman labelled his opposite number as the best manager in the Premier League this season for the work that he has carried out at the Welsh club in his first full campaign in charge.

Ahead of Monday night's clash at the Emirates Stadium, Monk has responded to the praise afforded to him by Wenger.

"It's brilliant to hear that and I appreciate it greatly," he told reporters. "The pleasing thing for me is that Arsene is so experienced and has been at the top of his game for so long. It is a massive compliment.

"We are going in the right direction, so the recognition is good for me and my staff and I appreciate it."

Swansea are currently eighth in the Premier League table.
