Swansea City bring in young goalkeeper Steven Benda

Swansea City complete the signing of 18-year-old goalkeeper Steven Benda on a three-year deal from 1860 Munich.

Swansea City have announced the signing of goalkeeper Steven Benda in a three-year deal from 1860 Munich.

The 18-year-old moves to the Liberty Stadium having been recommended to the club by former Swansea keeper Gerhard Tremmel, who now works for the club as European recruitment assistant.

Benda is expected to initially join up with Swansea's Under-23 side before going on to challenge for the number one spot in the first team.

"I am really happy to sign the deal and excited to get started. The facilities are world class and I think Swansea is the best place for me to develop my football going forward," he told the club's official website.

"The game here is faster and more physical, so I know I will need to adapt but I am looking forward to seeing what I can achieve over the next three years."

Benda becomes Swansea's sixth signing of the summer and second of deadline day following the arrival of Renato Sanches on loan.
