Liverpool, Chelsea 'join the race for in-demand Michael Olise'

Liverpool and Chelsea have reportedly joined a growing list of clubs interested in signing Reading attacker Michael Olise in 2021.

The 18-year-old has scored twice and registered three assists in 10 appearances for the Royals this season and is widely regarded as one of the best young talents outside of the Premier League.

Arsenal, Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers were all linked with his services in the latter stages of the summer transfer window.

However, according to TEAMtalk, Liverpool and Chelsea have now joined the race for a player who only has just over 18 months left to run on his current deal.

Olise spent time with Chelsea during his youth career, while he also represented Manchester City before moving to Reading in 2016, ultimately signing a professional contract with the Championship side in July 2019.

The France Under-18 international, who has made 37 appearances in all competitions for his current side, is capable of playing in a number of different positions in the final third of the field.

Phil Jones 'worried Burnley move may fall through'

Out-of-favour Manchester United defender Phil Jones is reportedly worried that a potential move to Burnley may not come to fruition due to the possible takeover at Turf Moor.

The former Blackburn Rovers man has had his fair share of injury problems but has fallen down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and was recently left out of United's Premier League and Champions League squads.

As a result, the 28-year-old has been tipped to head for the exit door at Old Trafford, with Burnley manager Sean Dyche believed to be interested as he faces an uphill battle to keep hold of James Tarkowski.

However, according to the Daily Star, a proposed £200m takeover of Burnley would mean that the £40m-rated Tarkowski, who is garnering significant interest from West Ham United, would not need to be sold.

The report therefore suggests that Burnley will not move for Jones and the Englishman could be set to ply his trade in the Championship, with Derby County and Middlesbrough both keeping a close eye on developments.

Jones still has just under three years left to run on his current deal at Old Trafford.
