Jamie Murray, John Peers through to last eight at US Open

Jamie Murray and John Peers reach the last eight of the men's doubles at the US Open after beating Philipp Oswald and Adil Shamasdin.

Jamie Murray and partner John Peers are through to the quarter-finals of the US Open men's doubles after a straight-sets victory over Philipp Oswald and Adil Shamasdin.

The number eight seeds had sealed an early break in the first set and were able to hold on to their advantage to take it 6-4.

However, the British-Australian pairing needed to save a break point in the fourth game of the second set as their opponents tried to launch a fight back.

Murray and Peers then broke serve again before wrapping up a 6-4 6-4 win on Grandstand Court.

They are joined in the last eight by Britain's Dominic Inglot who, with partner Robert Lindstedt, beat Tommy Haas and Radek Stepanek.
