Valencia 'unlikely to sign Postiga'

Valencia want to sign Helder Postiga as a replacement for Roberto Soldado, but Real Zaragoza's asking price for the forward is currently too high.

Valencia president Amadeo Salvo has revealed that Real Zaragoza are pricing them out of a move for former Tottenham Hotspur striker Helder Postiga.

The Mestalla outfit are seeking a replacement for Spurs-bound Roberto Soldado, who is undergoing a medical at White Hart Lane ahead of a club-record £25.8m deal.

Valencia are keen on signing Portugal international Postiga from their La Liga rivals, but Salvo has admitted that Zaragoza's valuation of the 31-year-old is currently too expensive.

Salvo told reporters: "The club and the coach [Miroslav Djukic] like Postiga a lot but right now he is not, and nor will be, a Valencia player because Zaragoza are demanding much more than what the club want to pay for him. Unless something radical changes, the door will remain closed."

Postiga scored one goal in 19 appearances for Spurs in the 2003-04 campaign after joining in a £6m transfer from FC Porto.
