Gareth Bale: "An honour" to play for Wales

Gareth Bale says that he enjoys playing for Wales and wants to represent his country as much as he can.

Wales winger Gareth Bale has said that it is always "an honour" for him to play for his country.

The 24-year-old has struggled with injuries this season after making the switch from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid last summer.

There were doubts on whether he would feature for the Dragons during their friendly international against Iceland on Wednesday, but the former Southampton left-back started the match and scored in the 70th minute.

"I always said that it's an honour to play for my country and if I'm fit I'll come and play," he told Sky Sports News.

"I enjoyed it. I enjoyed being around the boys so it's nice to be here.

"We're a squad that's been together for a while now and hopefully we can start delivering a bit more. I think the more games we play together, the more we believe."

Wales won the game 3-1 in Cardiff.
