Quique Flores: 'Crystal Palace deserved to win against Watford'

Watford head coach Quique Flores suggests that his side were not good enough in their 1-0 defeat by Crystal Palace, as they struggled to cope with the Eagle's attack.

Watford head coach Quique Flores has suggested that his side did not play well enough against Crystal Palace this afternoon.

The Hornets suffered their first home defeat of the season after Yohan Cabaye scored a second-half penalty to give the Eagles a 1-0 win, and Flores believes that although the penalty proved decisive, his side did not do enough to get something from the game regardless.

"It was difficult to stop the attack of Crystal Palace, it was really uncomfortable for us," Flores told BBC Sport. "We were not playing well with the ball, we need to open the pitch with the ball, we are not comfortable with this.

"We didn't stop the counter attack, we were a little bit disorganised with the defensive line, particularly in the first half. The final decision by the referee, it was a very big decision, I dunno. Maybe it decided the match.

"Crystal Palace played very well, made it tough and difficult, closed the space in the middle. So it was very difficult. We had our chance, Crystal Palace had their chance."

Watford will take on Bournemouth at Dean Court on Saturday, October 3.
