West Bromwich Albion defender Joleon Lescott is hopeful that the club can "progress" up the Premier League table next season after securing safety.
Tony Pulis's side kept themselves seven points adrift of relegation with a 1-1 draw against Newcastle United on Saturday.
"I'm sure the aim for every single Premier League team would be to progress," Lescott told the club's official website. "It doesn't matter what you have achieved, you always want to progress and we are no different.
"I am sure the manager will have ideas for next season and hopefully the club back him so that we can move forward. We don't want to be involved in a relegation battle next year - no team wants to be involved in a relegation battle."
The Baggies' final two games of the season are at home to Chelsea and away to Arsenal.
