Tony Pulis encouraged by display against Sunderland

West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis is hopeful that his side's display against Sunderland is the start of an improvement in the final third of the pitch.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis has admitted that his squad have not lived up to his expectations in attacking areas this season.

The Baggies ended the last campaign with 11 goals from eight games, three of which came against champions Chelsea, but they have registered just seven in nine this season.

However, after witnessing his team beat Sunderland last weekend, Pulis has revealed that he is encouraged ahead of Saturday's fixture at Norwich City.

The 57-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "From last year, where we looked like a potent side going forward and looked like we were going to score goals, we've not done that.

"But Saturday was encouraging. I think in the Premier League we got more crosses in than any other team last weekend, so we just need to get our players back and get them working up and down the pitch, especially the wide players."

The Baggies currently sit in 13th position in the Premier League table.
