Carlton Cole insists that avoiding defeat is West Ham United's main aim against Southampton tomorrow evening.

Carlton Cole has revealed that avoiding defeat is West Ham United's main aim in their top-of-the-table clash with Southampton tomorrow evening.

The Hammers head into the encounter top of the Championship table. However, they are just one point ahead of the Saints, who have led the way for large parts of the season.

Cole has insisted that West Ham are fully prepared for Southampton, as well as targeting a positive result.

"Training went well, every player knows thier jobs on the pitch and we are set up to nullify the saints attacks, as well as attack them," Cole wrote on Twitter.

"We all want to WIN tomorrow but 1st and foremost WE MUST NOT LOSE!"

West Ham also have a game in hand on the Saints.
