West Ham United reportedly identify Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles as a possible transfer target this summer.

West Ham United have reportedly identified Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles as a potential transfer target this summer.

The Hammers are understood to be in the market for a new central defender after Jose Fonte's move to the Chinese Super League left them depleted in that position, leaving James Collins, Angelo Ogbonna and Declan Rice as the only recognised options.

Manager David Moyes has reportedly outlined a number of possible targets to bolster his defensive strength, and Newcastle defender Lascelles is understood to be at the top of his list.

The Hammers are thought to be lining up a bid of £15m, although that offer would be some way short of Newcastle's valuation of the player.

Lascelles, who has scored three goals in 27 appearances so far this season, is contracted to the Magpies until the summer of 2023.
