Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez pays tribute to Robin van Persie ahead of his side's meeting with Manchester United.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has praised Manchester United striker Robin van Persie.

The Latics travel to Old Trafford on Saturday to face the Red Devils, who boast an in-form Dutchman.

The 29-year-old has scored four goals in three Premier League matches since joining United last month, and Martinez is well aware of Van Persie's talent.

"We all know what level Robin van Persie is at. What he did with Arsenal - not many players can reach that level," Martinez told the Wigan Observer.

"Obviously he went to Manchester United, and you're expecting him to take a little bit of time to settle in.

"But he proves everyone wrong with a phenomenal display against Southampton."
