Pirelli's role as tyre in supplier in F1 is apparently under threat, according to reports.
French manufacturer Michelin is claiming that it could take over as sole provider ahead of the start of next season, while BBC Sport reports that discussions have already taken place between the company and the FIA.
Pirelli's role as F1 tyre supplier had come into question after a succession of tyre failures at the British Grand Prix earlier this summer.
This prompted Pirelli to change the construction to a more robust make-up for future races.
Michelin last worked in the sport in 2006 and are no stranger to criticism over tyre worries, having advised seven constructors to pull out of the infamous 2005 US Grand Prix over fears about driver safety.
