Tiger Woods climbs leaderboard after three-under round

Four-time champion Tiger Woods scores a three-under-par 69 in the second round at The Masters to move up the leaderboard at Augusta.

Tiger Woods has jumped up the leaderboard at The Masters after carding a round of three-under-par on the second day at the Augusta event.

The four-time champion, who is making his return to competition at this tournament after several months out working on his game, was one shot over after Thursday's round, but he made a strong start today.

Woods opened with a birdie on the first, but was back to even for the day at the sixth with a bogey.

He quickly put the mistake behind him though, with birdies on the next two holes moving him under-par for the tournament for the first time.

Woods recorded his fourth birdie of the round on the 11th, rescuing a slightly wayward tee shot with a well-placed chip onto the green, leaving him with a short putt for three.

He needed a 15-foot putt at the 17th to avoid a bogey, but the former world number one sunk it, before finishing with a par at the final hole.

The round currently leaves him tied for 13th, 12 shots behind clubhouse leader Jordan Spieth.
