Scott Piercy takes three-shot lead after first round of CIMB Classic

American Scott Piercy leads the way by three shots at the CIMB Classic after finishing the first round with a 10-under 62.

Scott Piercy has taken a three-shot lead following a first-round 62 in the CIMB Classic in Kuala Lumpur.

The 36-year-old American had an unblemished round as he carded 10 birdies, three of which came consecutively on the front nine, to finish the day on 10-under-par.

Percy's closest challenger is Japan's Hideki Matsuyama, who hit a seven-under 65 with eight birdies and a bogey, while former PGA Championship winner Keegan Bradley is among five golfers on six-under.

Australia's Adam Scott started strongly with a birdie and an eagle, but he dropped shots on the seventh and 12th holes to finish the round on four-under.
