Neil Lennon has said that he hopes more help can be given to young footballers suffering from depression.
The Bolton Wanderers manager, who had depression during his time playing at Celtic, was speaking at a Scottish PFA initiative.
"I have, on a number of occasions, spoken openly about it, which helps," Lennon said.
"I've also been able to get the right help for them, which gets them through the process and gives them a better understanding of what they are going through.
"While we all feel ashamed of it, you shouldn't be because it can strike you at any time. The most important thing is that you can get better from it, and feel so much better and stronger for it."
The issue of depression in football has come into the spotlight after Clarke Carlisle's suicide attempt in December.
