Former England international Paul Gascoigne has reportedly been sectioned under the Mental Health Act following a drinking binge earlier this week.
According to The Sun, the 47-year-old, who first sought treatment for alcohol abuse in 1998, was taken to hospital in the early hours of Friday morning and placed on an emergency three-day detox.
Former Tottenham Hotspur teammate Gary Mabbutt told BT Sport: "Paul hasn't been well for the past couple of weeks, he wants to get better and he's asked for help. He is being looked after very well, he has got a lot of support around him."
Gascoigne earned 57 caps in a 10-year career with England.
