Team GB have dug deep to take bronze in the men's eight, the final event on the rowing schedule at the Tokyo Olympics.

The team - Josh Bugajski, Jacob Dawson, Tom George, Mohamed Sbihi, Charles Elwes, Oliver Wynne-Griffith, James Rudkin, Tom Ford and coxswain Henry Fieldman - led multiple times in the race but New Zealand moved decisively clear in the final 500m to leave GB to battle it out with Germany for the silver.

Having logged the fastest time in the heats, the Germans ultimately claimed second place on the podium, finishing 0.13 seconds ahead of their British rivals.

The race brings an end to an underwhelming performance for Team GB's rowers at the Olympics and raises more questions about future funding of the sport, which has been promised £22.2 million for the build-up to Paris 2024.

Having earned three golds and two silvers at Rio 2016, Team GB's final haul in Tokyo stands at just one silver and one bronze.

New Zealand end the Games top of the rowing medal table, with three golds and two silvers, with Team GB ranking in 14th place.
