England coach Stuart Lancaster: 'We need to learn from mistakes'

England coach Stuart Lancaster believes that his side made too many errors in their Six Nations defeat to Ireland at the Aviva Stadium.

England head coach Stuart Lancaster has stressed that his side need to learn from their mistakes following their Six Nations defeat to Ireland at the Aviva Stadium.

The Red Rose lost the chance to complete the Grand Slam as Jonny Sexton kicked four penalties and Robbie Henshaw scored a 53rd-minute try to hand Joe Schmidt's team the victory.

Lancaster was to rue his side's mistakes throughout the contest as they failed to get into the match until the final 10 minutes, when it proved too late to make an impact.

He told BBC Sport: "In the first half we were masters of our own destiny. We played in the wrong areas at times and our discipline wasn't good enough and the timing of the try at the start of the second half was crucial.

"For us we need to understand where it went wrong and learn from it - we now need to focus on our two big games at home.

"We didn't nail some our our line-outs and there wasn't much to carry - it is hard to build an attaching game when you are taking high balls all the time."

England face Scotland in their next Six Nations clash at Twickenham on March 14.
