London Irish hire former England scrum guru

London Irish appoint Phil Keith-Roach as their scrum coach as the Premiership strugglers look to improve.

London Irish have added to their ranks Phil Keith-Roach, the scrum coach to England's 2003 Rugby World Cup-winning side.

Exiles director of rugby Brian Smith believes that his team has recruited the most knowledgeable expert of scrummaging in the game and hopes that the change will lead to a reverse in fortunes.

The Reading Post quotes him as saying: "We have to put whatever resources we can into the problem [of scrummaging] as it is holding us back as a group. We want to be proactive and do something about it."

London Irish are currently 11th in the Aviva Premiership.
