Amateur player John Sutton banned for six years

Amateur player John Sutton is banned for six years after being found guilty of match-fixing and passing on inside information.

Amateur player John Sutton has been handed a six-year suspension after being found guilty of match-fixing.

Suspicious betting patterns were reported during the 34-year-old's 6-0 defeat to Jamie Burnett at the International Championship qualifiers in Barnsley last September.

Last month, the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association found the Irishman guilty of match-fixing as well as passing on inside information, but it was ruled that he had probably been influenced by others.

Sutton's last major appearance was a 6-0 defeat to Ding Junhui in the last 128 of the UK Championship in November.
