Serena Williams has earned a straight-sets victory against Lucie Hradecka in the first round of the Cincinnati Open.
Fresh from winning the Rogers Cup over the weekend, Williams progressed largely unopposed for the first half of the opening set, standing 4-1 up before her opponent fought back to concede the set 3-6.
The second set's scoreboard began even more one-sided as Williams led 5-1. Hradecka managed to rally a significant comeback to take the set to tie-break before Williams won 6-3 7-6 (7/5).
The 13-time Grand Slam winner will next face either Eleni Danilidou or Samantha Stosur, her Montreal final victim, in the next round.
