Reigning champion Petra Kvitova has been knocked out of the Madrid Open by Lucie Hradecka this afternoon.
Hradecka emerged the better of the two players from the Czech Republic when she claimed a break of serve midway through the opening set.
She made the most of that advantage to take a one-set lead courtesy of a 6-4 triumph.
Number three seed Kvitova was broken twice early in the second set as Hradecka went about recording a quick victory.
She made certain of the outcome by holding onto her service game, before playing out for a 6-4 6-3 win.
Hradecka will now face either Maria Kirilenko or Ekaterina Makarova in round three.
