Novak Djokovic: 'Communicating with Boris Becker during matches is not cheating'

World number one Novak Djokovic insists that communicating with coach Boris Becker during matches is not cheating, and is something that a lot of players look to do.

Novak Djokovic has refuted claims that he has cheated during past matches by communicating with trainer Boris Becker.

Becker claimed in an interview over the weekend that he had a method of signalling with the Serbian ace while he was out on the court.

However, Djokovic insists that there is nothing unusual about communicating with his coach during matches, despite ATP World Tour rules prohibiting any sort of audible or visible interaction.

"There are times when the team of the player communicates with the player when he gets to go and take the towel in the corner, which is closer to the box, or, you know, different ways," the world number one told reporters.

"I think it's all fine as long as it's not regular. I think it just depends. This is a very competitive sport. You're alone on the court. We can't pretend like that's not happening in tennis."

Djokovic begins the defence of his Wimbledon crown against Philipp Kohlschreiber later this afternoon.
