Atlanta Falcons score seven touchdowns in Houston Texans rout

The Atlanta Falcons score seven touchdowns in a 42-21 win against the Houston Texans at the Georgia Dome.

Devonta Freeman scored three touchdowns for his second game in a row as the Atlanta Falcons trounced the Houston Texans 48-21 at the Georgia Dome this evening.

Atlanta would score early on after Jonathan Babineaux intercepted a Ryan Mallett pass that led to Freeman running in a 16-yard touchdown.

The running back scored again at the start of the second quarter after Matt Ryan led the Falcons down the field before Freeman pulled off a 23-yard run for his second touchdown of the day.

Houston put themselves in a bigger hole just minutes later after returning running back Arian Foster fumbled the football and cornerback Desmond Trufant scooped it up and ran untouched into the endzone.

Ryan would finally get his first passing touchdown just before the break, finding tight end Leonard Hankerson to give the Falcons at 28-point lead heading into half time.

Freeman would then get his third score of the day in the second half after capping off another impressive drive that included a 55-yard pass play to Hankerson to put them into the redzone.

Rookie running back Terron Ward then got in on the action to score his first career touchdown, running the ball home from seven yards.

Brian Hoyer came in at quarterback for the Texans and finally got them on the board, finding CJ Fiedorowicz for a five-yard touchdown before Chris Polk and Cecil Shorts both found the endzone in garbage time.

Atlanta had the last laugh, however, finishing the game with one final touchdown after Nate Stupar returned a fumble as time expired in the game.

The win means that the Falcons remain unbeaten so far this season at 4-0 in the NFC South, while the Texans drop to 1-3 after a tough start to the season.
